Service road on Pune-Bengaluru highway will be constructed soon, informs Shambhuraj Desai
As a series of accidents happened on the stretch between the Dari Pul and Navale Bridge on Pune-Bengaluru highway, this issue was raised by Khadakwasla constituency MLA Bhimrao Tapkir in the legislative assembly session in Nagpur.
Pune: The state transport minister Shambhuraj Desai has instructed Pune Municipal Corporation to start the work on the service road on the Pune-Bengaluru highway.
As a series of accidents happened on the stretch between the Dari Pul and Navale Bridge on Pune-Bengaluru highway, this issue was raised by Bhimrao Tapkir in the legislative assembly session in Nagpur.
On the issue, transport Minister Shambhuraj Desai said, “Pune Municipal Corporation will be instructed regarding the construction of service roads on the land owned by the Pune Municipal Corporation on the sub-urban route of National Highway 48 passing through the Pune city limits.”
He said that a left side service road has been constructed from Dari Pul to Sinhagad Road. On the right side, there is a service road from Sinhagad Road to Indrayani School and because there is a parallel drain along the highway near Narhe Cemetery, the service road cannot be built within the limits of the highway. Therefore, it is planned to work a one-meter-wide service road through the National Highway Authority of India site of about three meters width on the side of the drain and the planned 6-meter-wide road within PMC limits.
A Detailed Project Report (DPR) of ₹ 4.18 crore has been obtained for this work through the road department and it is in the process of approval.
After this approval, it is planned to complete the work of a nine-meter-wide service road between Indrayani International School and Narhe Crematorium along the National Highway. The service roads in the area between Narhe Crematorium to Bhumkar Chowk and Navle bridge to Katraj are being planned through the National Highways Authority of India, informed Minister Desai.
