Severe heat wave conditions prevail at isolated pockets

Pune, June 6 : Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets over east Bihar and heat wave conditions in isolated pockets over West Bengal and Sikkim.


Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at a few places over Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.1°C ) at most places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; at many places over Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal and coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh; at isolated places over Konkan and Goa; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over north Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; at a few places over Odisha; at isolated places over Telangana, Saurashtra and Kutch.


The weather was appreciably below normal (-5.1°C or less) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan; at a few places over Rayalaseema; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.1°C ) at a few places over west Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Punjab, west Uttar Pradesh and Marathwada; at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 44.0°C was reported at Sambalpur (Odisha).


Thunderstorm observed at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Vidarbha, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and north Chhattisgarh.


Hailstorms are observed at isolated places over Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Gujarat Region and at a few places in Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, interior Karnataka and Kerala. Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and west Rajasthan.
