Sexual abuse: school bus driver arrested

In a shocking incident, a 16-year old girl was sexually abused repeatedly by the school bus driver. 
The incident came to light when the victim’s parent approached Kondhwa police station with a complaint.  A case was registered under the relevant provision of the Protection of women from sexual offences Act against Someshwar Ghule Patil (35), a resident of Wadachi wadi in Undri and he was arrested.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, senior Inspector Sardar Patil of Kondhwa police station said, “Victim is in tenth grade. The incident came to light after the victim’s father asked her why she came home late from school. The victim then revealed that she was  repeatedly sexually abused by the school bus driver and three others. After that, the father informed us. When we interrogated the girl, she informed that she has been sexually abused by Ghule whom she knew for last one year. The victim has been sexual abused between March, 2021 and July 16, 2022.

Spreading awareness among teenage girls about good and bad touch, a must, says DCP zone 5, Namrata Patil. 

He added, “The victim used to come to school in the school bus belonging to suspect Ghule. Ghule is married and has two children. Knowing that she was a minor, Ghule asked her if she would be in a relationship. Plaintiff not knowing what a relationship is, she agreed. He then forcibly had intercourse with her from March to June 2022. On saturday, the girl came home late. Her father became suspicious.  Medical examination revealed that she has been abused. We are probing the case. It has also come to know that Ghule had not done his police verification. “

Speaking to Pune Pulse DCP Namrata Patil said, “The schools and parents need to train their children about good and bad touch. Especially the teenage girls need to be informed about the modus used by such culprits for trapping them.Parents need to be more viligant about their children. “

Mangal Kashyap secretary of District Legal Service Authority, Pune said, “The cases of child abuse are increasing. Considering the cases are increasing we have  tied-up with Maharashtra State Education board where our team of lawyers and judges are spreading legal awareness in the issue.”
