Presented by The Orange Octopus Records, this mehfil will feature melodious ghazals and captivating poetry, performed by talented musicians and poets who bring the rich tradition of Urdu art to life.

About the artists:

Shivam Sharma (Poet)
Shivam is a poet, theatre artist and filmmaker. He studied Direction at FTII, Pune. He’s also the creator of ‘The Mansarovar Project’, available on YouTube and Spotify podcasts where he makes Hindi/Urdu story podcasts and poetry videos. The channel has been featured in major publications like Hindustan Times, Times of India and FirstPost etc. He trained in theatre at Stagecraft Theatre Nagpur and has done numerous shows over the years.

Anirban Mitra (Singer)
Anirban fell in love with Ghazals when he first heard Ghulam Ali, 20 years ago. Unable to copy his harkat and murki, Anirban decided to learn music and has ever since been a student of this artform. He’s currently a disciple of Dr. Digvijay Vaidya of Gwalior gharana. He has performed across cities, including in Prayagraj, Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Pune. In addition to singing, he likes composing music and writing lyrics too.

Kartik (Singer)
A trained Hindustani classical vocalist, Kartik is passionate about Ghazals, Thumris, and semi-classical music. While his performances often adapt to the vibe of the stage, singing remains his strongest passion. Whether he’s sharing original compositions or telling stories through song, Kartik’s voice is sure to captivate and inspire. 

Simran Khurana (Poet)
Poet, lyricist, and music lover, Simran Khurana weaves words and melodies into a seamless tapestry of art. Her connection with poetry is as strong as her connection with music, viewing the two as inseparable. A spoken word poetry mentor, Simran has guided over 1,000 aspiring poets and performed at prestigious institutions like Gokhale Institute, Tata Institute of Social Science, and more. She is the founder of “The Yellow Room” and “Kissagoi”, both communities of poets and storytellers in Pune.


Manu Gautam (Poet)
Manu is a poet/storyteller at heart, who has traversed many terrains from films to radio to television. At an early age he was exposed to the Ganga-Jamuni traditions of Urdu-Hindi poetry, shades of which can still be seen on his expressions. Over the years Manu has tried to find new idioms, symbols and metaphors from life around him.
