Sharad Pawar Hospitalised Again in Pune as Health Condition Worsens; Doctors Say Condition Stable
Pune, February 9, 2026: Senior NCP (SP) leader and former Union minister Sharad Pawar was taken to a private hospital in Pune on Monday afternoon after experiencing health issues related to a throat infection and persistent coughing.
The 85-year-old leader was shifted from his residence in Baramati to Ruby Hall Clinic following concerns over continuous coughing since the previous night and symptoms of chest congestion. Family sources confirmed that his condition prompted immediate medical attention.
Pawar has been admitted to the hospital for observation and further medical assessment. His wife Pratibha Pawar, daughter Supriya Sule, and son-in-law Sadanand Sule have reached the hospital to be by his side.
Dr Parvez Grant, chief cardiologist and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, stated that a team of doctors would conduct detailed examinations to determine the appropriate treatment plan and next course of action.
Sharad Pawar, a veteran political leader, is also known to be a survivor of oral cancer, for which he underwent multiple surgeries in India and abroad in the late 1990s.
