In an unfortunate incident that took place today, one person died and seven injured due to a blast in a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited’s transformer in Alandi, Solu. There are many who are feared to be injured.

The fire personnel and police swiftly sent the injured to nearby hospital for medical treatment. The transformer blast led to the explosion of a gas cylinder which was in a home nearby. The Fire brigade personnel from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation are containing the fire. Further details are awaited.

While the onlookers informed about the transformer blast leading to the accident, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has denied the allegations.

MSEDCL denies the allegations raised on them for the fire accident which took place in Alandi today. It stated that the report of transformer blast causing death and injuries to the residents is wrong. Infact the said transformer was non-functional due to non payment of the bill for the last six months. A site inspection was carried out by the assistant engineer Sandeep Kurhade and deputy executive engineer Vijay Gargote who informed that the 63KVA capacity transformer did not cause any accident. After the fire was contained the transformer was found to be in proper condition. This transformer supplies power to only one consumer. But the consumer has not paid the bill due to which his conenction has been cut.
