Pune : A 37-year-old daily wage worker was detained by police on Tuesday over suspicious behaviour. He was held for assaulting and drowning his landlord on Monday afternoon in their Uruli Devachi chawl in an underground water tank.

At first, the employee attempted to claim that the incident was a drowning death. But when they noticed bloodstains close to the tank, the police realized he was lying.

According to a senior police official of the Loni Kalbhor Police, the bloodstains suggested foul play because drowning deaths are less likely to result in blood leaking from the body.

Tenant was confronted by the landlord for revving the bike, which sparked trouble.

The accused was a tenant in the chawl with his family. The landlord of the chawl allegedly started a verbal fight because he was bothered by the noise that the tenant’s motorcycle was making. Both engaged in a physical altercation as the situation worsened. The accused attacked the landlord out of fury and eventually threw him into a water tank & drowned him.

Loni Kalbhor Police have registered a case under relevant Sections of the IPC. Further investigation is going on.
