Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Now In Thailand: A Replica Of Temple Inaugurated In Phuket
The iconic Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple, a symbol of devotion for millions in Pune, has found its replica in Phuket, Thailand. This stunning temple, meticulously modeled after the original in Pune, has become a beacon of faith for Ganesha devotees in Thailand.

This extraordinary temple was conceptualized by Papasorn Mepa, an entrepreneur and Chairperson of Phuket Nine Real Estate Company, who is a devoted follower of Lord Ganesha. For years, Mepa traveled to Pune to seek blessings at the Dagdusheth Ganpati temple. Her vision to replicate this sacred place in Thailand began to take shape two years ago when construction commenced near Rawai Beach in Phuket.
The temple’s foundation ceremony was conducted by then Vice-President and now President of the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust, Sunil Rasane, marking the beginning of this ambitious project.

After nearly 20 months of meticulous construction, the temple was completed in October 2024. The idol of Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati, along with a Shivling, idols of Goddess Siddhi and Buddhi, Lord Shiva and Parvati, and other sacred artifacts, was transported from Pune to Thailand via sea. The entire consignment took 30 days to reach Phuket, with all items crafted by artisans in Pune.
The inauguration was celebrated in true Pune-style tradition, complete with a grand procession featuring Pune’s iconic Dhol-Tasha troupes and artisans tying traditional turbans. Hundreds of devotees in Phuket participated in the Rath Yatra, which filled the streets with vibrant chants and music.

Grand Opening
The temple, aptly named “Lord Shreemant Ganpati Bappa Devalaya,” was inaugurated by Sunil Rasane, along with dignitaries like Rajeshkumar Sankla, Chairman of Siddhivinayak Group, and Rahul Manikrao Chavan, Director of Suvarnayug Bank.
The temple’s construction involved an investment of over ₹10 crore, reflecting the immense devotion and resources committed to this spiritual endeavor.

Daily Devotion and Upcoming Rituals
Since its opening, the temple has been attracting over 500 visitors daily. Regular rituals such as Abhishek and Ganesh Yagya are set to commence soon, providing devotees a serene place for prayer and worship.
A Symbol of Cultural Pride
The establishment of this temple has not only brought Hindu culture and traditions to the forefront in Thailand but also signifies the growing admiration for Lord Ganesha among Thai locals. The fact that such a precise and heartfelt replica of Pune’s Dagdusheth temple has been created abroad is a moment of immense pride for Hindus worldwide.

Spreading Hindu Dharma Overseas
This remarkable effort by Thai citizens highlights their respect and devotion towards Hindu culture. The Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust expressed their gratitude for this initiative, which has allowed the Hindu faith to transcend boundaries and reach new shores.
If you’re in Phuket, a visit to the Lord Shreemant Ganpati Bappa Devalaya is a must to witness this splendid temple that stands as a testament to global unity through faith.
