Sinhagad area conservation plan receives Rs 3 crores 75 lakhs fund under regional tourism scheme
Pune : In the recently held District Planning Committee meeting, it was announced that under the Sinhagad area conservation scheme funds of Rs 3 crores 57 lakhs have been allotted, wherein conservation of the Kalyan Darwaja and other adjoining areas will be undertaken. The work will be carried out by April end by the Archaeological Survey of India. Chandrakant Patil. Pune district guardian minister approved the funds for development and conservation on the Sinhagad fort.
The Sinhagad development plan was stuck for many years and was delayed for unknown reasons. Patil in the district planning committee meeting spoke about the majority funds allotted for development of temples, forts, heritage temples, and providing basic facilities at tourists places in the 2023-24 DP plan.
In the District Annual Scheme Rs 30 crores have been reserved for conservation of forts and gadhs. Development plans for these forts and other prime tourist places will be drawn. Instructions are being given to the ASI, State government, deputy directors. In the coming DPC meetings these development works would be approved and by March end in 2024 the works should be complete.
The tender process for Swarajya Rakshak Dharmaveer Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s balidan (sacrifice) sthal in Tulapur and samadhi in Vadhu Budruk has started. Both the works will be completed before his Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s Jayanti.
Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, district collector, Pune said that the ASI will carry out conservation work at historical and religious places that will retain its originality.
