Pune police have arrested six people involved in a fuel theft racket and seized 1,600 litres of petrol and diesel. The suspects were siphoning fuel from tankers belonging to state-owned companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL). The fuel was being transferred into plastic containers using electric pumps at a temporary shed.

The arrested individuals are identified as Shubham Bhagat (23), Trushant Sumbhe (31), Ravi Kewat (25), Vishal Gosavi (30), Kiram Ambekar (31), and Rohit Kumar (31). The police are also searching for other individuals connected to this organized operation.

Acting on a tip-off, the Loni Kalbhor police raided the shed on Tuesday, discovering the illegal fuel siphoning setup. Investigations revealed that the thieves tampered with tracking and anti-theft devices on the tankers to steal fuel during transit.
