Smart signals in Pimple Saudagar
Commuters can heave a sigh of relief as traffic flow will be
regularised soon
Pimple Saudagar is developing rapidly and the latest addition is the smart signal pole which would be installed at every square.
Traffic jams and accidents occur frequently at Kalpataru square, PK chowk and Shivar chowk. The long traffic jams implies that vehicles which are far away from the signal can hardly see it. Many commuters break the rules because the signal is not visible to them. To address this, smart signals with LED signals are being installed by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. This will also ease the traffic flow.
A pole with an LED light is installed at the chowk which acts as a signal. It changes the colour with the signal lights. Such signal is already installed on Ambedkar chowk in Pimpri. And now it is being installed in Pimple Saudagar too.
“The city is getting smarter with this smart signal. We have started this initiative to avoid accidents, as many people don’t follow the traffic rules. To avoid the violation, we are installing smart signals.” said Manoj Sethiya, Smart city Project Engineer, PCMC
“These smart signals will reduce the traffic jam issues which occur daily. These large LED lights are helping motorists to see the signal. This has a positive effect on the traffic flow,” said Shatrughna Kate, Corporator.
