Housing societies in Wakad have geared up by taking up the initiative of organizing Covid19 tests for the members, housekeeping staff within their premises. A few societies have also set up isolation centers within their premises, while many are making arrangements for the same.

The lack of availability of beds, oxygen supply in the hospitals and losing out on precious time to save lives, the societies decided to take up the onus and provide minimum basic facilities for its members.

S B Dhonde of Vedanta society in Wakad shared with Pune Pulse that the society has set two isolation centers within their premises. He said, “Like last year, this year too we have created isolation center in our society. A 3 bhk flat has been converted into an isolation center. We are also using our club house, where 5 people can be accommodated. These facilities are well equipped with oxygen cylinders, PPE kits, separate waste bins and other facilities. At places, where people are not able to maintain social distancing, this has been a huge relief.”
