Speeding Mercedes Crashes into Bike on Pune-Bangalore Highway; One Dead, Car Plunges Off Wadgaon Bridge
Pune | May 3, 2025 — A tragic accident on the Pune-Bangalore Highway in the early hours of Saturday claimed the life of a motorcycle rider after a Mercedes-Benz rammed into a two-wheeler and fell off the Wadgaon Bridge near Vishal Hotel in Narhe.
The accident took place around 4:30 AM, when the speeding luxury car collided with a Splendor motorcycle, fatally injuring the rider, Kunal Hushar, a resident of Chinchwad. The pillion rider sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Following the impact, the Mercedes broke through the bridge barricades and plunged onto the service road below, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle. According to police, airbags deployed in time, saving the car’s occupants from major injuries.
Pune Police have registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide). “Two accused are in custody while two others, injured in the crash, are receiving medical treatment,” police confirmed. Medical examinations of the accused have been conducted as part of the investigation.
Authorities are probing whether speeding or intoxication played a role in the crash. Further inquiries are ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events.
