Pune, May 21, 2026:Â Weeks after the recruitment examination for State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group 5 was suspended following allegations of question paper duplication, authorities have announced that the written examination will be re-conducted on May 24.
According to an official communication issued by the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), SRPF, Pune, the fresh examination will be conducted for candidates appearing under SRPF Group 5, Daund.
The controversy erupted after the May 2 examination, when several aspirants alleged that nearly 85 out of 100 questions were directly copied from a practice guidebook titled Sarav Prashnasanch 10, published by Maharashtra Publication Academy. Candidates claimed that the questions, answer choices, and sequence in the examination paper matched the guidebook exactly, raising serious concerns over the fairness and transparency of the recruitment process.

Following widespread protests and complaints from candidates, SRPF authorities had suspended the recruitment process and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
However, officials have not yet clarified whether the investigation into the alleged duplication and possible paper leak has been completed or whether any disciplinary action has been initiated.
Speaking on the issue, Vitthal Bade, head of Maharashtra Publication Academy, said the decision to reconduct the examination was expected. He also urged the police department to conduct future examinations more carefully and ensure necessary corrections, including spelling and formatting errors in question papers.
The announcement has provided temporary relief to thousands of aspirants who had been demanding a transparent and fair recruitment process. Candidates are now awaiting further updates regarding hall tickets and revised examination guidelines.
