Pune: In the upcoming year, India is preparing for significant elections, including the Lok Sabha elections and state assembly elections. Before these elections, an important electoral event is on the horizon, as announced by the State Election Commission. 

On November 5, 2023, elections will be held for a total of 2,359-gram panchayats across the state, including 2,950 seats for members of Gram Panchayats (GP) and by-elections for 130 sarpanch posts. The model code of conduct has been implemented in the respective areas of the gram panchayats, and candidates may file their nomination papers from October 16 to 20, 2023.

The examination of nominations will occur on October 23, 2023, and nominations may be retracted by 3 p.m. on October 25, 2023. Election symbols will be distributed on the same day. As per reports, voting will transpire from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on November 5, 2023, with the vote-counting process slated for November 6, 2023. However, in the Naxal-affected regions of Gadchiroli and Gondia, voting will transpire from 7.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the vote counting scheduled for November 7, 2023.
