State govt approves merger of 23 villages in PMC

The state government on June 30, 2021 issued a notification regarding the merger of 23 villages in the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). 

Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday June 29,2021 had held a meeting in Mumbai to discuss various issues pertaining to Pune. 
The key points discussed in the meeting held in Mumbai included handing over of schools and anganwadis from 11 villages that were included in city limits in 2018. 

The meeting also discussed constructing safety walls at Katraj Lake and Ambil Odha, the issue of merger of 23 new villages, re-development of MHADA buildings, construction of Shivne-Kharadi Road.

The meeting saw attendance of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders from the Pune city, including MLA Hadapsar Chetan Tupe and Vadgaon Sheri constituency Sunil Tingre and leader of opposition in Pune Municipal Corporation Deepali Dhumal. 

The state government had invited suggestions and objections on the merger of 23 villages. A detailed report was submitted by the Pune divisional commissioner  Saurabh Rao to the government recently. It took over six months of period to get the merger approved.
