Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s horror-comedy ‘Stree 2’ becomes the first Hindi film to cross the 600-crore mark, moving towards breaking Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ box office record.

The horror-comedy, Stree 2, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has made history by becoming the first Hindi film to enter the 600-crore club. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film has maintained a strong box office performance. Even on its sixth Monday, following a solid weekend, the movie’s box office reign continues. It soon, approaching the all-time record set by Shah Rukh Khan’s, Jawan.

Released on August 15, Stree 2 saw consistent box office success during its first five weeks and kept its momentum going into the sixth weekend. The film has grossed an impressive total of Rs 605.72 crore at the domestic box office. As it stands, Stree 2 is only days away from surpassing, Jawan to claim the title of the highest-grossing Hindi film ever. If the film crosses the 600-crore mark, it will also secure a spot in the top five highest-grossing Indian films in history.

Stree 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 2018 hit, Stree, continues the story of Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends as they battle supernatural forces in the town of Chanderi. The film also features stellar performances by Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. Special appearances by Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan further add star power to the movie. 

The film’s week-wise earnings reflect its strong box office performance: it earned Rs 307.80 crore in its first week, followed by Rs 145.80 crore in the second week, Rs 72.83 crore in the third, Rs 37.75 crore in the fourth and Rs 25.72 crore in the fifth. Over the sixth weekend, Stree 2 added another Rs 14.32 crore to its total, bringing its cumulative earnings to Rs 605.72 crore.

With Maddock Films already confirming plans for Stree 3, fans of the supernatural universe—which includes Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), Bhediya (2022) and Munjya (2024)—can look forward to more spooky adventures in the future. As Stree 2 continues its box office run, all eyes are now on how it will fare against upcoming competition from Devara and whether it will surpass Jawan to set a new record.
