An Indian entrepreneur has accused the United States police and the FBI of detaining her for eight hours after airport security deemed a power bank in her luggage “suspicious.” The entrepreneur claims she was subjected to a search by a male officer, which was filmed, raising concerns about the appropriateness of the search and the length of her detention.

Shruti Chaturvedi took to social media to share her distressing experience, alleging that she was asked “absurd questions” during her detention by U.S. police and the FBI. She revealed that she was forced to remove her warm clothing, kept in an excessively cold room, and denied access to restrooms while in custody.

Chaturvedi also claimed that she missed her flight and was not allowed to make even a single phone call during the ordeal. Her mobile phone and wallet were allegedly confiscated. She attributed all of this to the airport security at Anchorage Airport in Alaska finding a power bank in her handbag “suspicious.”

In her post, Chaturvedi tagged the Ministry of External Affairs and Union Minister S. Jaishankar, seeking their intervention regarding her case.

“Imagine being detained by Police and FBI for 8 hours, being questioned the most ridiculous things, physically checked by a male officer on camera, stripped off warm wear, mobile phone, wallet, kept in chilled room, not allowed to use a restroom, or make a single phone call, made to miss your flight – all because the airport security found your power bank in handbag “suspicious”.

I don’t have to imagine, already past the worst 7 hours. And we all know why.

Earlier, Chaturvedi had posted pictures from her Alaskan vacation, including photos of her hiking to a snow-covered waterfall. On March 30, she shared images of the Northern Lights she witnessed in Alaska.

“I flew to Alaska, drove along the Dalton Highway, crossed the Arctic Circle, and watched the Northern Lights from my room balcony on a night I wasn’t expecting to see them,” she wrote.
