Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejasvi Surya has strongly criticized the Karnataka government led by Siddaramaiah for instructing students to bring their own answer sheets for exams, describing it as a clear indication of the government being in a ‘complete mess’ and having lost its dignity.

• Claims government has ‘lost the dignity to continue in office’

• Government directs schools to have students bring own answer sheets

Surya expressed his concerns on social media, highlighting the financial challenges faced by the state and urging the Chief Minister to immediately allocate funds to the education department to ensure the printing of answer booklets.

In the academic year 2022-2023, the Karnataka School Examination & Assessment Board (KSEAB) provided answer sheets along with the question paper. However, this year, it decided only to give the question paper.

The move by the Karnataka government, which is not charging any fee from students, has faced severe backlash from various quarters, including students, parents, and opposition parties.

In a related development, the Karnataka High Court cancelled notifications appointing the Karnataka School Examination & Assessment Board as the competent authority for certain exams, adding to the challenges faced by the education system in the state.
