Tragedy strikes during polo match in the UK; business and Bollywood circles mourn loss

Prominent Indian industrialist Sunjay Kapur, former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on Thursday at the age of 53. According to sources, Kapur suffered a fatal heart attack during a polo match in the United Kingdom, reportedly triggered by an insect, possibly a bee, entering his mouth while he was riding.

Kapur collapsed mid-game, and although immediate medical attention was provided, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. The sudden demise of the Sona Comstar chairman has left both the corporate world and his social circles in shock.

A well-known figure in the automotive industry, Kapur also served as Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the Northern Region, representing key Indian states and Union Territories including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. His sharp business acumen and love for motorsports and polo made him a familiar face in elite sporting and business events.
