Tamil actor Vijay launches “Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam,” declares intent to contest 2026 assembly polls

Renowned Tamil actor Vijay has officially entered the political arena by announcing the launch of his political party, “Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam.” 

In a statement, Vijay emphasized that politics is not merely a vocation but a “holy public service.” The party’s name loosely translates to “Tamil Nadu Victory Party.” While speculation had been circulating about the actor’s political entry, the official announcement sparked spontaneous celebrations among his fans.

Vijay expressed his commitment to contesting the 2026 Assembly polls in the state, marking a significant step in his public service journey. However, he clarified that his party would not participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In a gesture of gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu, Vijay assured that he would fulfill his existing film commitments without compromising his dedication to political work.
