Tata Motors has officially launched the Tata Sierra EV in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹18.79 lakh. Positioned as the company’s premium electric SUV, the Sierra EV is offered with two battery pack options, multiple variants and both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.
The electric SUV is available with 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs. The 63 kWh version is offered in Pure, Pure S, Adventure and Empowered variants, while the 75 kWh battery is available in Adventure, Empowered and Empowered A trims. The top-spec 75 kWh Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) variant is priced at ₹25.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Ahead of its launch, Tata Motors demonstrated the Sierra EV’s off-road capability by successfully climbing the Tal Moreeb sand dune in Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s tallest and most challenging dunes. During the demonstration, the SUV showcased several production-ready features, including Terrain Modes, Sand Mode, Boost Mode, Tata’s Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) dual-motor AWD system and a powertrain producing 500 Nm of torque. The vehicle climbed the steep 50-degree dune while maintaining traction, highlighting its off-road capabilities.
The Sierra EV also promises a claimed driving range of over 500 km on a full charge, making it suitable for both city commuting and long-distance travel.
Along with its electric powertrain, the SUV comes equipped with premium features, modern connected technology and advanced safety systems, reinforcing Tata Motors’ focus on the premium EV segment.
The successful Tal Moreeb dune climb has also highlighted the engineering capabilities of the Sierra EV before its market launch, demonstrating its ability to handle demanding terrain while offering the refinement expected from a modern electric SUV.
