Pimpri-Chinchwad – The tax collection and taxation department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has successfully provided various benefits to over three lakh taxpayers in the city. Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh of the tax collection department provided information that these taxpayers collectively received tax savings of Rs. 24 crore 32 lakh.

In the city, there are various types of properties including residential, commercial, industrial, vacant land, and mixed-use, totalling 625,000. Property owners are responsible for tax payments. In the financial year 2023-24, out of the 6 lakh 25 thousand properties, 5 lakh 11 thousand 154 property owners paid their taxes. It’s a historic achievement for the Municipal Corporation to collect nearly Rs. 977 crore 50 lakh in taxes, compared to last year’s collection of Rs. 816 crores. This marks an additional collection of Rs. 161 crores.

To encourage early tax payments, online tax payment facilities were provided, along with benefits for specific categories of property owners such as women, veterans, and differently-abled individuals. As a result, 86 thousand 252 property owners paying in advance received Rs. 3 crore 45 lakhs in savings. Among online taxpayers, 2 lakh 45 thousand 253 individuals received the highest savings of Rs. 15 crore 62 lakhs. 

Additionally, 12 thousand 559 women saved Rs. 2 crores 14 lakhs, 1257 veterans saved Rs. 3 lakhs, and 3 thousand 452 ex-servicemen saved Rs. 2 crores 8 lakhs in taxes.

Moreover, 16 thousand 132 property owners received valuable benefits through environmental conservation projects and zero waste initiatives, amounting to Rs. 71 lakhs.

To avail of these tax benefits, citizens are urged to file their taxes by May 31, 2024. Last year, many citizens benefited from applicable tax savings by timely filing their tax returns.
