His journey illustrates a transition from pursuing financial ambitions to embracing a commitment to public service, positioning him as an inspiring figure for future civil servants.

“Till the morning, I was praying that may God put me in the top 70. It took a bit of time to sink in that I have got 1st rank. I don’t think anyone can say that he or she was expecting to get 1st rank,” he had said after the results were announced.

After completing his studies, Srivastava spent 15 months at Goldman Sachs before choosing to leave and focus on preparing for the UPSC.

Later, he secured a lucrative position in Bengaluru, with an annual salary of Rs 40 lakh. However, after 18 months, he chose to resign, driven by his aspiration to serve in the government.

He intentionally chose to embark on a career in the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), driven by his evolving aspirations. During his time at Goldman Sachs, he came to understand that financial gain was not his primary source of inspiration.

“Firstly, if you see that coming from the area that I come from, even the blessings are of the form, that you become a collector, so there was some kind of knowledge about civil services I had from the beginning, but the final change where I took it seriously was when during my job days. I had a volunteering experience where I realized that just going and feeding the children is not enough to have a meaningful impact on their lives,” he says.

On his third attempt, he achieved success, earning a spot in the IPS with a rank of 136. Following his IPS training, he resumed his preparations for the UPSC 2023 examination.

He secured the top honor, attaining 1st rank, on his third attempt in the UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2023.

IPS Aditya Srivastava is currently employed in Hyderabad, Telangana, as indicated on his LinkedIn profile.
