The 2023 thriller The Lady Killer, featuring Bhumi Pednekar and Arjun Kapoor, failed to make a mark at the Indian box office, suffering a 99.99% loss, with earnings reportedly limited to ₹60,000. Directed by Ajay Bahl, the film sold only 293 tickets on its opening day and struggled to gain traction, leading OTT platforms, including an initially confirmed release on Netflix, to back out of digital streaming.
Despite these setbacks, The Lady Killer found an unexpected second wind on YouTube. Released for free in September 2024, the film gained over 2.6 million views within a month, highlighting a digital audience’s interest. Viewers praised the thriller for its suspense and performances, with many expressing surprise at its unfavorable reception during the theatrical release.
