Bengaluru Police have apprehended a thief who constructed a house worth Rs 3 crore for his girlfriend using the money he stole. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Panchakshari Swamy, reportedly had ties to a well-known film actress.

As per police reports, the Madivala Police in Bengaluru have put an end to a series of criminal activities. Panchakshari Swamy, originally from Solapur in Maharashtra, is married with a child but is notorious for his womanizing behavior.

Investigations revealed that Swamy began his life of crime in 2003 when he was still a minor. By 2009, he had turned into a professional thief, accumulating wealth in crores through his illegal activities. In 2014-15, he met a famous actress and started a romantic relationship with her.

During questioning, Swamy admitted to spending crores on the actress. He also mentioned that he built a house in Kolkata worth Rs 3 crore and gifted her an aquarium valued at Rs 22 lakh.

In 2016, Swamy was apprehended by the Gujarat Police and sentenced to six years in prison. After his release from Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, he returned to his life of burglary. He was subsequently arrested by the Maharashtra Police for similar offenses. Once freed in 2024, he relocated to Bengaluru, where he resumed house burglaries and thefts.

On January 9, he broke into a house in the Madivala area of Bengaluru. Following intelligence gathering, the police arrested him near the Madivala market. During questioning, he confessed to committing crimes in Bengaluru with an accomplice.

The police seized an iron rod and a fire gun that he used to melt stolen gold and convert it into gold biscuits. Swamy disclosed that he stored all the gold and silver biscuits made from stolen jewelry at his home in Solapur, Maharashtra.

Authorities confiscated 181 grams of gold biscuits, 333 grams of silver items, and the fire gun used for melting jewelry.

Investigators also found that after committing crimes, Swamy would change his clothes on the street to avoid drawing suspicion.

Swamy held a black belt in karate, which likely contributed to his ability to evade capture and commit crimes effectively. After his father’s death, his mother secured a compensatory job in the railway department. The investigation also revealed that he owned a house in his mother’s name, but a bank had issued an auction notice due to unpaid loans.

The case was solved by a dedicated team led by DCP (Northeast) Sarah Fathima, Madivala ACP Laxminarayana K.C., and Inspector Mohammad M.A. from the Madivala police station. Swamy typically operated alone, observing empty houses and easily targeting them. His connections with some actresses may have also played a role in his criminal activities.
