Sindhudurg, February 7, 2025: A 33-year-old tourist from Pune was brutally assaulted by hotel owners and staff after a dispute over tea at a hotel on the Mumbai-Goa highway near Zarap Zero Point.

The victim, Rupesh Baban Sakpal, a resident of Katraj, Pune, had stopped for tea when he found a fly in his cup. Upon requesting a replacement, an argument broke out, escalating into a violent attack. The hotel owners and staff allegedly tied Sakpal’s hands and legs before beating him on the road.

Following the incident, the police registered a case against six accused: Tanveer Karamat Sheikh, Sharafat Abbas Sheikh, Abbas alias Sahil Sharafat Sheikh, Parveen Sharafat Sheikh, Sajmeen Sharafat Sheikh, and Talah Karamat Sheikh.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
