In February 2024, the 25-kilometer stretch of Samruddhi Mahamarg from Bharvir to Igatpuri Town will be opened for vehicular traffic according to Kailash Jadhav, according to Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

An MSRDC official said that only the girder laying of the vehicular over bridge (VOB) is pending. On this 25-kilometer section, all other significant construction is finished. By February, they hope to have it operational for traffic.

The official further continued that one of the most complicated sections of the Samruddhi Mahamarg is the 25-kilometer section that crosses the old Mumbai Nashik Highway and includes a flyover, bridges, a VOB, twin tunnels measuring 300 meters each, and other structures. Given the continuous traffic on the six-lane road beneath the bridge, the VOB construction was difficult.

The 701-kilometer Samruddhi Mahamarg connects Nagpur and Mumbai. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 520 km section between Nagpur and Shirdi in December 2022, while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the section between Shirdi and Bharvir in May 2023.

The work in the Nashik district will be finished with the opening of the 25-kilometer stretch, leaving only the Thane district to complete its portion of work.
