G20 meetings: Guardian Minister Patil seeks people’s co-operation  


Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said that the city beautification work will be done, roads will be repaired and squares will be cleaned and beautified.

A total of three meetings of G-20 summit is to be held in Pune on January 16 and 17, 2023 and Pune’s guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil appeals to residentsto cooperate  during the preparation

Pune: As India holds the presidency of the G-20 Summit from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023, G-20 meetings will be held in Pune as well on January 16 and 17, 2023. To make the event successful, Pune’s guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil held a review meeting with the officials of PMC, PCMC, District Collector and Police officers.

Three meetings of the G-20 summit will be held in Pune, informed Pune’s guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil. He said, “We are fortunate to host three meetings. The contribution of residents is important to make such a big event a success. Along with the cleanliness of the route of the delegates participating in the G-20 meetings, emphasis should also be placed on the beautification of the premises.”

He further said, “Local art forms will be included in the cultural programme. The glorious history of Maharashtra and the educational-cultural richness of Pune will be showcased. Common citizens will be involved in the preparation and they must be informed about the importance of these meetings.”

Divisional Commissioner Rao gave information about the plans in place ahead of the scheduled sub-committees meeting in Pune. He informed, “Through various committees of G-20 countries, 200 meetings will be held in the country on various topics such as information technology, trade cooperation, environment, green energy, education and cultural exchange. Out of them, 26 will be held in Maharashtra and 3 will be held in Pune. The meetings in Pune have been meticulously planned as 140-200 foreign delegates will be coming.”

Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said that the city beautification work will be done, roads will be repaired and squares will be cleaned and beautified. From Airport to the hotel the roads will be sanitised, and repair works on electricity will be done on January 3, 2023. A heritage walk has also been planned to Lal Mahal, Shaniwar Wada and Dagdushet Ganapati and a lighting show will be done at Shaniwarwada.

Chandrakant Patil appealed to citizens to cooperate as during the preparations, traffic diversions will be made causing traffic congestion and security arrangements which have to be followed by people.  

A documentary film is being prepared by the tourism department for branding Pune. The delegates coming from abroad will be welcomed with traditional music. Programmes such as Mardani Khel, Powada, Dance etc. will be presented to convey the cultural glory of Maharashtra to the foreign delegates.
