Tourists Attacked By Swarm Of Bees At Shivneri Fort; Prompt Rescue Operation Averts Major Crisis
On the morning of April 20, 2025, around 9:30 AM, over 15 tourists visiting Shivneri Fort were once again attacked by a swarm of wild bees near the Aagya Mohol area. This is not the first incident of its kind, raising concerns about safety measures for visitors at this historic site.
As soon as the incident was reported, personnel from the Forest Department, Shivjanmabhoomi Ambulance Services, and Shivjanmabhoomi Junnar Rescue Team rushed to the spot. Team members Rajkumar Chavan, Atif Sayyed, and Mahindra Navale were among the first responders who reached the location and immediately began assisting the affected tourists.
The swift and coordinated response helped bring the situation under control, and the injured were provided timely medical attention. Authorities have urged tourists to exercise caution while exploring areas known to have bee hives.
Regular attacks like these have raised the need for a more permanent solution, such as better warning systems, removal or relocation of hives, and safety briefings for visitors. The administration has assured further review of safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
Shivneri Fort, known as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, attracts thousands of visitors, making safety a top priority.
