On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, Pune Police have announced significant traffic changes in the city center.

Nehru Road, Lakshmi Road, Shivaji Road, and Bajirao Road will be closed from 7 am on the day of the event until the end of the celebrations, with exceptions for essential service vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashikant Borate has urged drivers to use alternative routes during this period.

Alternative routes include:

  • Those heading to Swargate from Jijamata Chowk should use Shivaji Road.
  • Travel from Barve Chowk to Jangli Maharaj Road, Khandujibaba Chowk to Tilak Chowk, and Tilak Chowk to Tilak Road.
  • Traffic going towards Budhwar Chowk will be diverted from Kelkar Road via Jogeshwari Mandir Chowk.
  • Lakshmi Road traffic will be diverted from Kabir Chowk during the procession until it passes Sonya Maruti Chowk.
  • Motorists going from Puram Chowk to Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road can take Tilak Road to Fergusson College Road via Tilak Chowk.
  • After the start of the procession, all vehicles will take Kelkar Road instead of going from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk and Bajirao Road to the Futkya Bhuruj.
  • Until the processions pass the Gadgil Statue, vehicles will proceed from Savarkar Bhavan via Maharishi Vitthal Shinde Bridge to Balgandharva side or via Takale Haveli Chowk (Ramanbagh Chowk).
  • Vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Shaniwar Wada until the processions have crossed the Gadgil statue. Motorists should proceed from Cosmos Bank Junction, Maharshi Vitthal Shinde Bridge via Tilak Bridge to Municipal or Takle Haveli Chowk (Ramanbagh Chowk).
  • Motorists going to Pune Municipal Bhavan from Barve Chowk can take a left turn to Jhansi Rani Chowk on Jungli Maharaj Road.

These traffic changes are implemented to facilitate the smooth flow of events and ensure public safety during the Shivjayanti celebrations in Pune.
