Tragic Collision on Nagar-Kalyan Highway: ST Bus and Truck Collide at Malshej Ghat : 20 Passengers injured
In a harrowing incident that unfolded amidst the picturesque backdrop of Malshej Ghat along the Nagar-Kalyan highway, a catastrophic collision occurred late last night at approximately 11:30 PM.
The collision was of such magnitude that it resulted in serious injuries to 20 passengers on board.
The accident transpired when an ST bus, identified as the Kalyan-Shiroli route, was en route to Shiroli from Kalyan, while a truck was traveling in the opposite direction, heading towards Kalyan. The two vehicles, an Eicher truck and the ST bus, collided head-on, resulting in extensive damage to both. The force of the impact was so severe that the truck nearly overturned.
The injured passengers have been swiftly taken to a private hospital located in Ale Phata, where they are receiving medical attention for their injuries.
Unfortunately, the Eicher truck driver was also severely injured in the incident, adding to the gravity of the situation. The abrupt and devastating nature of the accident left passengers on the bus in a state of shock and distress.
The Nagar-Kalyan highway has been increasingly perilous, claiming lives in a series of tragic accidents. Recently, five farm laborers fell victim to a hit-and-run incident, resulting in three fatalities at the scene. This highway has been witnessing a concerning rise in accidents, big and small, with growing calls for immediate safety measures by both road authorities and the general public.
The collision between the ST bus and the truck serves as a grim reminder of the highway’s treacherous conditions, leaving passengers pondering their brush with fate, thankful that their time had not yet come.
