Bengaluru Traffic Snarls Claim an Unlikely Victim: A Train! Railways Sets the Record Straight.

In a bizarre twist that highlights the severity of Bengaluru’s traffic woes, a video showing a train halted due to gridlocked vehicles at a railway crossing near Munnekolala on the Outer Ring Road has gone viral. The clip, shared by Instagram user, depicts the train waiting alongside other vehicles as traffic congestion prevented the railway crossing gates from closing, resulting in the train being momentarily stuck.

Railway officials, however, have clarified the situation, stating that the train did not stop due to the traffic jam but was halted by the loco pilot after hearing a striking sound. The train crew, including the assistant loco pilot and train manager, conducted a precautionary safety inspection of the rake to ensure there were no issues. To manage the situation and prevent further road congestion, the gateman kept the level-crossing gate open during the inspection.

Despite the clarification, the video has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with netizens poking fun at the irony of a train caught in Bengaluru’s notorious traffic. Comments ranged from humorous takes on the situation to frustrations about the city’s ongoing urban mobility challenges.

One user joked, “We waited many times when you were crossing; now it is your turn to wait till we cross,” while another quipped, “Station master: Why did your train arrive late at the station? Loco pilot: Bengaluru city traffic, sir.”

Bengaluru, often called India’s Silicon Valley, is no stranger to traffic chaos, which regularly affects commuters across the city. A recent social media post highlighted the dire situation, showing that a 6-kilometer drive between Brigade Metropolis and KR Puram Railway Station could take 44 minutes, while walking the same distance would only take 42 minutes. This comparison underlines the severity of Bengaluru’s traffic issues, where even trains aren’t exempt from the city’s infamous jams.

The viral incident serves as a stark reminder of the growing traffic challenges in one of India’s busiest tech hubs and the urgent need for effective urban mobility solutions.
