Pune: At least two people from Pune were among those injured in a deadly terrorist attack near Pahalgam, Kashmir, on Tuesday. The incident, which took place at a popular meadow, has been described as the worst in the Valley since the Pulwama attack in 2019. A total of 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives in the assault.

NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule raised an urgent appeal on social media, requesting Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to extend immediate medical aid and assistance to the injured from Pune.

“Requesting @OmarAbdullah for providing immediate medical aid and support to the people hailing from Pune who have suffered injuries in the Pahalgam firing incident today,” Sule wrote on X.

She stated that the affected individuals are Asawari Jagdale, Pragati Jagdale, Santosh Jagdale (gunshot wound), Kaustubh Ganbote (gunshot wound), and Sangeeta Ganbote. The group of five had travelled to the region together. Sule noted that the families are seeking clarity on the medical condition of the injured.

The targeted location near Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination in South Kashmir, saw sudden gunfire erupt in the afternoon, resulting in chaos and mass casualties. Security forces have since launched search operations in the area.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the attackers or the motive behind the strike. However, the scale of the assault has sent shockwaves across the country, renewing concerns over the safety of tourists and civilians in the region.
