Two New Flyovers Proposed at T-Junction to Improve Travel Time between Pune and Navi Mumbai
New flyovers aim to ease congestion at Sion-Panvel Highway, reducing delays for motorists traveling between Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Mumbai.
As part of efforts to decongest the T-Junction Nagar on the Sion-Panvel Highway in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to construct two elevated flyovers. These will connect the heavily trafficked junction with the Ghatkopar Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR), improving travel for vehicles heading to and from Navi Mumbai, Pune, and other parts of Mumbai.
Currently, motorists can spend more than 15 minutes at this junction due to traffic jams. The proposed flyovers will provide direct access to the GMLR, reducing delays and bottlenecks. The new infrastructure will originate from T-Junction Nagar, catering to vehicles traveling between Vashi and Ghatkopar.
Key benefits of the flyovers include:
• Time-saving: Vehicles heading toward Ghatkopar can bypass the congested junction, saving travel time.
• Improved access: The flyovers will provide direct routes for vehicles heading to Navi Mumbai and Pune, improving overall connectivity.
Specifications of the proposed flyovers:
• Lengths: 1.47 km and 1.93 km
• Two vehicular carriageways per arm
• Widths between 6.5 meters and 8.5 meters
The project is estimated to cost ₹918 crore, with a timeline of 36 months for completion. However, construction is pending necessary approvals from the Railways and other authorities.
