Pune Court Remands Accused to Police Custody till October 15 in Gang Rape Case
Police continue to hunt for two other suspects involved in the brutal gang rape of a 21-year-old woman in Bopdev Ghat.
A Pune court has remanded a 28-year-old man, arrested in connection with the gang rape of a 21-year-old woman, to police custody until October 15. The incident took place on the night of October Pune Court Remands Accused to Police Custody till October 15 in Gang Rape Case the Bopdev Ghat area, on the outskirts of the city. The woman was sexually assaulted by three men during an outing with her male friend, who was also beaten up by the attackers.
The arrested man, a history-sheeter from Madhya Pradesh with multiple robbery cases against him in Pune district, was apprehended eight days after the crime. Police are still tracing the two other suspects, who also have criminal backgrounds linked to theft cases.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the police efforts, noting that about 700 personnel were deployed to track the culprits. A reward of ₹10 lakh had been announced for information leading to their arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
