Two Sentenced to Life Imprisonment, three acquitted in activist Narendra Dabholkar’s murder case
In a significant verdict today, a Pune court sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment for the 2013 murder of activist Narendra Dabholkar. The court, however, acquitted three other accused in the case. Narendra Dabholkar, a prominent figure who led the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, was fatally shot in Pune on August 20, 2013, allegedly by members of a group.
His murder was part of a series of similar attacks. Govind Pansare was shot in February 2015, followed by MM Kalburgi’s murder in August the same year. Gauri Lankesh met a similar fate outside her Bengaluru home in September 2017.
