Undri village even before it was merged in the Pune Municipal Corporation has seen drastic realty development. Since the development of the area, many unauthorised unauthorised constructions have come up in the area which has harmed the natural water streams affecting the flora and fauna and also the ground water resource. The residents of Undri have alleged that the natural water streams / odha / nalas have gone missing due to rampant illegal and construction beyond the permission in the area.

Rajendra Bhintade, a social activist from the area said, “The odha in Undri village consisting of more than 1 km and 33 feet wide has gone missing. Due to encroachments only ten feet nala / odha is now visible to naked areas. We have demanded to Pune Municipal Corporation to restore and revive the natural water stream to the locals of the area. The odha starts from Undri bypass road to Amit Colori, Atur Nagar, Kailas Kanchan, Bishops school, Kad nagar chowk, Mohamadwadi.”

Bhintade further said that the odha in the last year saw heavy water flow during the monsoon as the water could not flow due to encroachments. We want PMC to take immediate action and remove the encroachments as well as clean the odha. We don’t want the locals to suffer due to poor planning of the PMC.

The letter was sent recently to the PMC by Dada Kad, Vijay Kad, Akshay Takle, Shankar Kawade, Rajendra Bhintade and Omkar Hole.
