Undri village residents, mostly from Punekar mala, Takle vasti, Kanade nagar, Atur nagar are a few areas which are receiving drinking water after every 5 days. Out of 20, only nine tankers are provided by the Pune Municipal Corporation. If the tankers are increased the residents will atleast get water after every three days. Presently, the residents are receiving only 9 tankers which are inadequate. Despite raising the issue, PMC has not been supporting the residents by providing them with adequate tankers. To draw PMC‘s attention to the increasing problem, Undri residents have organised a strike at Undri chowk on March 31 against PMC.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Swati Takle, former member, Pune Zilla Parishad and member of Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) informed that Undri village is provided water supply from Hadapsar Kamthe mala tank. But out of 20 tankers, the residents are receiving only 9 tankers which is inadequate. Also, the condition of the tank is deteriorating. The instruments are rusted, the electrical DP box is open and unattended, and has filth all around it. With this strike, we want to draw PMC’s attention and hoping that the residents get their basic drinking water supply.

Former member, Gram Panchayat, Undri Subhash Ghule stated that PMC has been neglecting this area for the last two years. We not only need overhead water tanks but also need adequate water supply so that the residents do not suffer from inadequate water. There is a separate line of water which has come from Sasane Nagar to Undri but at many places there are many illegal connections which has greatly affected the water supply. PMC should resolve the matter at the earliest and provide residents with basic necessity.
