Unified Healthcare: Ayushman Bharat and Mahatma Phule Yojana Offer Comprehensive Free Treatment for Families
The Ayushman Bharat scheme and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana are now being implemented together, providing free treatment for 1,356 diseases to every family. This initiative benefits everyone, from newborns to the elderly.
The central and state governments have prioritized patient safety, offering up to five lakh rupees in free treatments annually for each family.
To ensure that all citizens benefit from these government health schemes, the state government decided to merge the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana with Ayushman Bharat. The program is accessible to all, including government employees and the general public. Families with yellow, orange, and white ration cards can obtain an Ayushman card to avail themselves of the benefits.
Currently, 52 hospitals in the district provide free treatment up to five lakh rupees.
Patients must obtain an Ayushman card from local online service centers to access these services. At the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj General Hospital in Solapur, despite having 760 beds, over 1,000 patients receive free treatment for at least 300 days a year.
The district boasts 82 primary health centers and 431 sub-centers, along with 12 government hospitals. Each patient is given free medication, and additional referral services are available for further treatment. Over 20 lakh people benefit from these government facilities annually, highlighting significant savings for families and improved healthcare access in the region.
