Union Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, took to the skies on the inaugural World Skydiving Day, showcasing his adventurous spirit as he celebrated the opening of India’s first private skydiving facility in Narnaul, Haryana. This event, held on July 13, aims to set a new record for the number of skydives performed in a single day.

In a moment reminiscent of the iconic “aaj kuch toofani karte hai,” 56-year-old Shekhawat executed his skydive flawlessly, underscoring the potential for adventure tourism in India. His dive was part of the festivities marking the launch of this state-of-the-art skydiving center, a significant milestone for India’s tourism and aero sports industries.

“Today holds immense significance for both India and the global community. The opening of India’s first private skydiving facility in Narnaul is a landmark achievement. Additionally, the commencement of World Skydiving Day marks a new chapter in celebrating this thrilling sport worldwide,” Shekhawat expressed to the media.

### About World Skydiving Day 2024
The inaugural World Skydiving Day, celebrated on July 13, 2024, will become an annual event held every second Saturday of July. Organized by the US Parachute Association (USPA), the Australian Parachute Federation, British Skydiving, and the Canadian Sport Parachuting Association, this event seeks to set a global record for the most skydives performed in one day and to celebrate the exhilarating sport of skydiving.

“World Skydiving Day invites individuals from all backgrounds to leap into history. We encourage everyone to experience this adventure of a lifetime—not just adrenaline seekers, but anyone with a dream of flying,” said USPA Executive Director Albert Berchtold. “This day is about more than the thrill; it’s a celebration of a global community united by the sport of skydiving, from novices to seasoned professionals.”
