Madhya Pradesh: In an unprecedented turn of events at Rani Durgavati University in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, students pursuing the MSc Computer Science course were left in utter disbelief when they arrived for their scheduled exam only to be informed that the university had ‘forgotten’ to conduct it. Despite the release of a timetable and the issuance of admit cards, the university administration failed to prepare for the crucial examination.

The university had initially announced the timetable for the MSc Computer Science first-semester exam back in February, with the scheduled date falling on a Tuesday. However, students from various districts, having travelled for the exam, were met with unpreparedness on the part of the university.

Frustrated and dismayed, the students staged a protest at the university, demanding accountability and immediate action against the responsible individuals. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) actively joined the protest, emphasizing the severity of the situation and calling for strict consequences for those jeopardizing the students’ academic future.

In response to the uproar, the Vice Chancellor initiated an investigation into the matter and has called for a detailed explanation from two staffers directly responsible for overseeing the examination process. The Vice-Chancellor has assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the probe report.

Acknowledging the gravity of the negligence, Registrar Dr Deepesh Mishra announced the formation of an inquiry committee to delve into the circumstances leading to the overlooked exam. Additionally, a new timetable has been released, rescheduling the MSc Computer Science first-semester exam to take place from March 7 to March 15.

This incident has sparked concerns among the student community, highlighting the importance of robust administrative processes to avoid such distressing lapses in the future. As the university works towards rectifying the situation, affected students await a fair resolution to this unexpected and disheartening ordeal.
