A significant amount of water flowed out from a water tank at Pune’s Market Yard today, attributed to a valve breakage incident, resulting in the wastage of numerous liters of water.

According to reports from Pravin Doke’s social media handle, there’s a stark contrast between the scarcity of drinking water for citizens in the Gultekdi area of Pune and the loss of lakhs of liters of water due to the valve breakage at the Market Yard.

Rajaram Dhondkar, Secretary of Pune Market Yard, addressed the incident in an interview with Pune Pulse, stating, “The incident occurred around 11 am when the valve of the water tank sustained damage, leading to a significant outflow of water. Unfortunately, there was no immediate provision to halt the water supply, resulting in the loss of 7 to 8 lakh liters of water from the tank. However, repair work on the valve is already underway.”

Dhondkar reassured that despite the emptying of the tank, there’s an emergency provision of another tank within Market Yard, ensuring uninterrupted water supply to the area. He added, “The repair works are progressing swiftly and are expected to be completed by the end of today, preventing any further wastage.”
