Vande Bharat sleeper train is set to operate between Pune and Delhi shortly: Murlidhar Mohol
The new Vande Bharat sleeper train, the prototype of which was unveiled by the railways recently, will run between Pune and Delhi soon, announced Murlidhar Mohol, MP and Minister of State for Civil Aviation, on Monday. He made this statement during the virtual inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express connecting Pune and Hubballi at the Pune railway station. The inauguration was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Ahmedabad, alongside several other projects.
“We have been in discussions with the railway minister to allocate this train to the Pune division, and we are optimistic that it will commence operations soon. Additionally, we are collaborating closely with the central government on the project for the third and fourth lines between Pune and Lonavala. Once these projects are completed, they will greatly benefit railway passengers in Pune district,” Mohol stated.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and platform number 1 of the railway station was closed for the occasion.
“To alleviate the congestion at Pune station, plans have been made to establish a new, modern railway terminal at Uruli Kanchan. This terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for passengers. Additionally, new rail lines will be constructed between Karjat and Kamshet, as well as between Karjat and Telegaon,” Mohol mentioned.
The Vande Bharat sleeper train is anticipated to be launched within the next 2-3 months. The prototype consists of 16 coaches, including 11 AC 3-tier coaches, 4 AC 2-tier coaches, and 1 AC first-class coach.
“It’s great to see the railways introducing new and modern trains. However, authorities need to address the ongoing issues of frequent accidents and derailments. Moreover, certain trains, like the Azad Hind Express, require urgent rake changes, and this should also be a priority for the authorities,” a passenger said.
