Veteran Actor Sudhir Dalvi Hospitalized with Severe Sepsis; Family Seeks Financial Help for Treatment
Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, best known for playing Sai Baba in the 1977 film Shirdi Ke Saibaba, has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, since October 8, 2025. The 86-year-old actor is suffering from severe sepsis, a serious infection that needs immediate and intensive medical care.
Dalvi’s family has revealed that his medical expenses have already crossed ₹10 lakh, and the total cost of treatment could go up to ₹15 lakh. They have now appealed for financial help from fans and well-wishers to support his recovery.
A family member said, “We are trying our best to ensure his treatment continues, but the costs are beyond our reach. We request everyone who has loved his work to help us in this difficult time.”
Sudhir Dalvi became a household name after his calm and spiritual performance as Sai Baba in Shirdi Ke Saibaba, a role that deeply connected with millions of devotees across India. The actor later appeared in several films such as Anand Ashram, Julie, and Nastik, and was also seen in many popular television serials during the 1980s and 1990s.
Industry colleagues have expressed their concern and shared messages of support. A veteran TV director said, “Sudhir ji brought faith and peace into people’s lives through his performance. It’s painful to see him in this state, and we hope the industry supports him as he always supported his art.”
Despite his decades-long career, Dalvi’s situation highlights the financial struggles faced by many senior actors after retirement.
His family’s message ends with an emotional request: “We appeal to everyone who remembers him as Sai Baba or has admired his work to come forward. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us in this critical time.”
