A snake was found in the berth of an AC 2-tier coach on the Vasco-da-Gama Weekly Express, traveling from Jharkhand to Goa on Monday October 21st . A passenger recorded videos showing the snake slithering near the lower berth curtains before it was caught and removed from the train by a man, aided by IRCTC staff, who used a bedsheet to carefully handle the reptile.

Ankita Kumar Sinha, a passenger’s relative, raised the alarm on social media. She posted on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Snake found in Train -17322 (Jasidih to Vasco De Gama) on berth on date of 21st Oct. This complaint is on behalf of my parents who are traveling in AC 2 Tier -(A2 31, 33). Please take immediate action.” Sinha also tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging swift intervention, given the severity of the incident.

The video captured moments of tension as passengers discussed options, with some suggesting the snake be released from the train. Responding to the incident, Railway Seva informed that the issue had been escalated to the relevant authorities for prompt resolution. Ranchi’s Divisional Railway Manager acknowledged the complaint, confirming that the appropriate officials had been informed.

This isn’t the first such incident. Last month, passengers on the Garib Rath Express from Jabalpur to Mumbai were similarly startled when a snake was discovered in an upper berth. Videos showed it coiled around a bar near the AC vent, which caused panic among the passengers. In that case, affected passengers were relocated to another coach, and the coach in question was later detached and sent back to Jabalpur.
