Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified individual for creating fake social media accounts in her name, leading to fraudulent activities and false promises of job opportunities.

The actress clarified that neither the communication nor the associated phone number belonged to her when a contact within the film industry alerted her about receiving messages from someone claiming to be Vidya Balan, offering work opportunities via WhatsApp.

The FIR, lodged with the Khar Police, outlines the deceptive activities conducted by the impersonator, who exploited the fake accounts to mislead individuals within the film industry.

The case has been registered under Section 66(C) of the IT Act, relating to dishonestly making use of another person’s unique identification features.

The incident underscores the vulnerability of celebrities in the digital age and highlights the importance of safeguarding personal information online.

Vidya Balan has urged her followers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity associated with her name on social media platforms.

While addressing the fraudulent impersonation, Balan continues to focus on her upcoming projects, including the romantic comedy ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar,’ set for release on March 29, 2024, where she stars alongside Ileana D’Cruz.
