Pune: The pedestrian subway which is used by various citizens to cross the BRTS line & Nagar Road has been opened by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) as it remained closed for more than 20 days.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vaishali Bhuktar, Junior Engineer, PMC Nagar Road Ward Office said, “The pedestrian subway at Viman Nagar Chowk has been open for the public since September 11. The subway was closed due to water accumulation & unhygienic problems. A system has been brought to the subway to pump out water and sludge. Now, with 95% work complete, people can use the pedestrian subway.”

As per information, the pedestrian subway, which is useful for the commuters of the BRT line at Viman Nagar and the locals of the Nagar Road area to cross the road, had been closed for several days. Due to the blockage of the adjacent sewage channel, the water has leaked into the subway resulting in the accumulation of waist-deep water.

However, due to the fact that the administration did not immediately provide the necessary system from the senior level, this problem continued for a long time with local health inspectors and junior engineers trying their best to pump this water and solve the problem.

With the work nearing completion, pedestrians can easily use the subway.
