A dramatic incident occurred during the Ganesh visarjan celebrations in Mumbai on Sunday morning when a boat capsized during the immersion of the renowned ‘Andheri Cha Raja’ Ganesh idol at Versova.
One person was injured in the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The boat, which was carrying 20 – 25 devotees for the immersion ceremony, was reportedly overcrowded. A video of the incident showed the boat losing balance and devotees tumbling into the water.

Quick-thinking bystanders rushed to rescue those struggling to stay afloat.
This incident marks a rare mishap during the Ganesh immersion, which generally passes off without major incidents. Mumbai alone witnessed the immersion of 82,005 Ganpati idols this year.
Unlike most sarvajanik mandals, Andheri Cha Raja keeps the Ganpati idol for 14 days, explaining the delayed immersion.
