Viral Video of South Korean Vlogger in India Renews Concerns Over Tourist Safety
Travelling to a foreign country can be exciting, eye-opening, and enriching—but it can also come with unexpected challenges. Cultural differences, language barriers, and unfamiliar surroundings sometimes turn journeys stressful, especially for solo travellers. A recently resurfaced video from 2025, featuring a South Korean travel vlogger in India, has once again ignited conversations around tourist safety and personal boundaries.
The clip, which has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), documents the vlogger’s troubling experiences during her time in India. While the video is not old, it has recently gained renewed attention online, drawing mixed reactions from viewers across the world.
In one segment of the video, the South Korean woman is seen walking through an Indian street, though the exact location has not been identified. Two young boys approach her asking for a selfie. When she politely refuses, one of the boys is seen pushing the other toward her, crossing her personal space. The incident leaves her visibly shaken. Later, the vlogger confronts one of the boys and asks him to call his friend back, clearly disturbed by the situation and trying to address the behavior directly.
A voiceover accompanying the footage explains that what started as an exciting travel experience slowly became overwhelming. According to the narration, the vlogger faced repeated incidents of stalking, harassment, and alleged scams throughout her journey. These experiences reportedly continued across different locations, leaving her anxious and constantly on guard.
Adding to her distress, the woman was also involved in a car accident during the trip, which further worsened her emotional state.
The montage shows the vlogger appearing uncomfortable while interacting with auto-rickshaw drivers, being followed on the streets, and surrounded by groups of men that made her uneasy. Toward the end of the video, she is seen breaking down in tears.
When the man driving her asks, “Are you crying, ma’am?”, she replies emotionally, “Yeah, I’m crying. I hate India.” That statement quickly became the most discussed part of the video, triggering strong reactions online.
The clip was shared by a YouTuber with over a million followers, who narrated her ordeal and urged travellers to be cautious. He also claimed that South Koreans often hold negative views toward brown people, adding another layer to the discussion around racial perceptions and cultural misunderstandings.
While the woman’s experience is genuine and deeply unfortunate, many Indians have pointed out that such incidents do not define the entire country. India is vast and diverse, and while some regions struggle with issues like harassment and poor tourist management, countless visitors also experience warmth, kindness, and hospitality. It is equally true that Indians travelling abroad can face discrimination, scams, or unsafe situations as well. Unfortunately, such experiences are not limited to one country and can happen anywhere in the world.
India continues to welcome millions of tourists every year, and improving safety, awareness, and mutual respect remains a shared responsibility. Travel should be about connection and understanding—and conversations like these, when handled thoughtfully, can help move things in the right direction.
